FEEDBACK! We will be great at giving and receiving feedback, because we all have blindspots. Where you sit determines what you see and instead of enduring feedback, we’re going to embrace it. We’re going to crave it! Because without honest and timely feedback our growth is always limited. I only had 10 minutes to talk about this last night, but if you’d like to dive deeper into this topic here is a 2-part podcast that helped shape that segment. Enjoy!

HANDLING COACHES! Winkie talked about K, L, T (if the coaches know you, they like you, they trust you). When coaches get generic we get specific (e.g. – COACH: You call a foul down there, but down here we get nothing. OFFICIAL: Coach, I thought the defender maintained legal guarding position and the contact was incidental. What do you think the defender did wrong?).

TECHNICAL FOUL PENALTY SUMMARY! Administrative technicals, bench technicals, assistant technicals, head coach technicals…take a look at the summary to know how different technicals are recorded in the scorebook. To understand technical fouls go to Rule 10 Articles 1-6. I’ve also included the chart that we discussed last night.

Have a great weekend of games! Look sharp! Ref the defense! Communicate! And after the game talk about it! Feedback makes us better!

Best team on the floor,

Caleb Smith
President
Abilene Basketball Chapter

P.S. – For those that mentioned it, I’ve updated the pay sheet on our website. It’s now the 20-21 pay sheet that reflects the pay raise.
